Dr. Brian W. Payne is a trusted orthodontist with over 30 years of experience serving families in Santa Rosa, California. Inspired by his father, who founded Payne Orthodontics in 1959, Dr. Payne pursued dentistry at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and completed his orthodontic residency at UCSF.
Known for his compassionate care and strong community ties, Dr. Payne also teaches at the University of the Pacific and has led major fundraising efforts for dental education, including the Healthy Smiles for Healthy Lives campaign, which raised $500,000 to integrate digital technology into the Dr. George Payne Dental Wing at Santa Rosa Junior College.
Professional affiliations and continuing education
Dr. Payne is a member of the Northern California Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists (past president), the Peninsula Orthodontic Research Group, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the Redwood Empire Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Peninsula Orthodontic Study Club, the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association.
The Angle Society and the Peninsula Orthodontic Research Group are invitation-only study groups of private practitioners and educators who meet quarterly to present and discuss the latest orthodontic research, technology and methodology. These meetings keep Dr. Payne at the leading edge of evidence-based practice, which translates into predictable, stable results for his patients. He also volunteers in the orthodontic clinic at his alma mater and is involved with the American Board of Orthodontics.
Beyond the practice
Dr. Payne and his wife, Dr. Leslie Jue, who has practiced general dentistry in Santa Rosa for over 30 years, have two children: Dr. Jacqueline, an orthodontist in practice with her father, and Matthew, a healthcare consultant in New York City. Family dogs Iggy and Hobbes keep the house lively and sometimes accompany Dr. Brian to the office, where they greet patients.
The couple spends much of their free time in Tahoe, skiing in winter and hiking and biking in summer. At home you will find Dr. Payne in the garden or woodworking in his shop. He is also a devoted SF Giants fan.
