Most braces problems are annoyances, not emergencies. Here is how to handle each one, and when to call us.

Handle at home, then tell us at your next visit
- Poking wire: press it flat with a pencil eraser or cover it with orthodontic wax. If it will not settle, call and we will clip it.
- Loose bracket: leave it attached to the wire, cover with wax, call us to schedule a repair.
- General soreness after adjustments: soft foods, cold water, over-the-counter pain relief.
- Lost aligner: wear the previous tray and call us. In-house printing means fast replacements.
- Headgear or appliance discomfort: follow the wear instructions provided; discomfort often means wear time slipped. Call if it persists.

Frequently asked questions
A wire is stabbing my cheek. Is that an emergency?
It is an urgent annoyance. Wax or a pencil-eraser press usually buys comfort until we can clip it, often the same day.
My child knocked a tooth loose with braces on. What now?
Call us immediately, and if there is facial trauma see urgent care or your dentist first. We coordinate from there.
